Barely two hours after Big Joanie landed at Schiphol Airport, the trio was on the Muziekgieterij stage at Best Kept Secret 2023 for a delightful Heaven Session. As the sun pierced through the trees surrounding the festival grounds and the dust blew around, the London band treated us to their version of punk. Black feminist punk, to be exact.

Bassist Estella Adeyeri took a seat on the stool next to Heaven editor Ludo Diels after the session. They talked about punk, DIY, feminism, the pandemic, feelings of detachment and making a new record, among other things.
