Zimmerman is the solo project of Simon Casier, bassist with Balthazar, Douglas Firs and Senne Guns. And yes, Casier borrowed the name from Robert Allen Zimmerman, the real name in the passport of the great Bob Dylan. Zimmerman’s music – not Dylan but Casier’s three-piece band – is best characterized as romantic. And the album “Love Songs,” which not entirely coincidentally, was released on Feb. 14, is an unadulterated ode to love. Prior to a performance at Maastricht’s Muziekgieterij, Casier reported alone in the studio of this pop venue for a Heaven Session. There he played three songs from “Love Songs”; acoustic, bare and unadorned. Afterwards, Casier spoke with Heaven Magazine editor Ludo Diels about the things that really matter: life, love and death.
