King Hannah

King Hannah creates a musical landscape that invites one to get lost. Location is important to the Liverpool-based duo. For their latest record – Big Swimmer – Hannah Merrick and Craig Whittle drew inspiration from the withered but at the same time intriguing landscape of New Mexico.
But their music also comes into its own wonderfully outside the desert. Under the trees on the BKS grounds, King Hannah brought us into a pleasant state of hypnosis. Merrick’s slightly melancholy voice and Whittle’s rough guitar work also gave the set a menacing intensity.

After the session, the duo spoke with Ludo Diels (Heaven Magazine) about Liverpool, about touring and about the age-old question: which comes first, the lyrics or the music?
