The second album is always the hardest, goes the cliché. For Gustaf, that wasn’t so bad. The five-piece from Brooklyn wrote the songs for “Package pt. 2” in a hurry, before the first album even hit the record stores.

There was no lingering in the warm studio of Muziekgieterij either. Before we realized it, three songs were on tape and “Hurricane Gustaf” was gone again. After the stormy Heaven Session, frontwoman Lydia Gammill climbed onto the stool next to Ludo Diels for an interview.

The pair talked about the band’s wonderful name and the visual aspect of the music. And how they got to know each other? Something to do with a van and a trip from New York to South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin.
