A little hurried and almost aggressive, Ellis Dickson pounds away on the Muziekgieterij stage. The frontman and namesake of ELLiS-D does not care much for the time of day, Sunday morning on the last day of BKS 2025. ‘I like the challenge. Let’s see if we can keep people out of their slumber,’ he says later, during the interview to Ludo Diels (Heaven Magazine). We did succeed. Slumber was out of the question. ELLiS-D gave us a rude awakening.

Dickson, from Brighton, is a drummer by birth. That’s why he pounds his guitar as if it were a drum kit. ‘A strange way of playing the guitar,’ he calls it himself. The foundation of his songs is also laid on the drums. First the drums, then the rest, he tells Diels.
