Douglas Firs is the band around singer-songwriter Gertjan van Hellemont. The trio descended on the Muziekgieterij studio April 16 for an intimate Heaven Session. The warm melancholy and sweet sadness of their close harmony filled the small space. And James Taylor’s October road never sounded so heartbreaking.

After the session, Van Hellemont spoke with Ludo Diels (Heaven Magazine). They talked about children, Canada, loneliness and the magic of unhappiness. And about grief that doesn’t stop.
