ALI

Ali mounted the Muziekgieterij stage at Best Kept Secret just as the sun was breaking through in full force. The trio from Jakarta plays in an almost understated manner. Their music, however, got us hot. Ali blends soul and funk from the 70s with Eastern influences. Their sound is slightly mysterious and at the same time very danceable.

Formed in 2021, Ali released the album “Malaka” two years later. With it, the Indonesians immediately scored high marks. Just the appearance of their debut album they were on our stage.

After the session, Heaven Magazine’s Ludo Diels spoke with Arswandaru Cahyo about Ali’s origins, travel and European bands like Yin Yin and Altın Gün.
