This fall, Maastricht welcomes a new musical chapter: the Zero For Three Festival. Named after the area code 043, but with an “easter egg” meaning. On Sept. 5, 6 and 7, Muziekgieterij hosts a completely free three-day discovery festival that builds on the beloved free tradition of the Bruis Festival, which brought music lovers together from 2007 to 2024.

A fresh new approach

Zero For Three offers an innovative approach to discovering new musical talent. “With Zero For Three we present a fresh concept where we present a challenging lineup and offer music lovers the chance to discover new music,” said creative director Wim Smeets. “The annual festival is the proverbial icing on the cake, the most important event in the Zero For Three series.”

In search of ‘the music of tomorrow’

Like the true music lover, the team behind Zero For Three Festival is always looking for ‘the next big thing’: bands that excite and challenge, that give you that slap in the face that stays tingling. From that passion, this festival was born.

“We go exploring all year long, not just before and during the festival in September,” Smeets continues. “That’s why we offer monthly previews of what visitors can see and hear at Muziekgieterij during the free showcase nights and, of course, the Zero For Three Radio podcast. Some acts are even part of the festival program.” Expect an exciting mix of indie, lo-fi and pop acts pushing the boundaries of their genres and ready to be discovered by the Maastricht audience.

Free to explore

The concept is as simple as it is appealing: for three days, visitors can get to know new or emerging talented bands normally discovered only by early adopters. Several promising acts are scheduled each festival day, and all of this is completely free to the public. So “Zero For Three,” in this case for three days, and all in our beautiful city with the equally beautiful area code, 043. Go to zeroforthree.nl for the lineup.
