About Midsummer Prog Sunday

Dear Midsummer Proggers!

We can finally reveal our line-up!
It’s been a bit of a journey, mainly because we got the amazing opportunity to land Tesseract. That did mean we had to shift the festival by one day — so for 2026, Midsummer Prog will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 20 & 21.

We’re looking at Friday for a special pre-festival evening — not an extra festival day, but a great concert evening where we can already raise a glass together and toast to a beautiful Midsummer Prog weekend with you, our beloved prog family.

Tickets for the pre-festival evening and more info soon!

Tesseract
Formed in the UK, the band Tesseract is a key name in contemporary progressive metal. Their music combines complex rhythmic structures, layered guitar textures, and melodic vocals. Across albums such as Altered State and War of Being, the band has developed a sound that balances technical detail with atmosphere, translating effectively to a focused and immersive live setting.

Amarok
Based in Poland, Amarok combine progressive rock with ambient, electronic, and post-rock elements. Their compositions emphasize atmosphere, gradual development and textural detail. Rather than focusing on traditional song structures, Amarok create extended pieces that function as cohesive, narrative-driven works in both recorded and live contexts.

Cyan
Cyan are part of the UK neo-prog movement, with roots reaching back to the 1980s. Featuring musicians connected to bands such as Camel, their music is centered on melody, structured arrangements and classic progressive rock influences. Cyan maintain a clear link between the genre’s heritage and contemporary production.

Overhead, The Albatross
Overhead, The Albatross are an instrumental post-rock band from Dublin. Their work is built around layered guitar parts, restrained use of electronics and dynamic progression. Named after a lyric from Pink Floyd’s “Echoes,” the band focus on long-form compositions that develop through contrast and gradual intensity.

URSA
URSA play modern progressive metal with a focus on rhythm, atmosphere and evolving song structures. Their music combines heavy guitar work with layered arrangements and a measured sense of dynamics. Positioned within the current progressive metal landscape, URSA emphasize development and cohesion over traditional verse-chorus formats.
